Overview & Highlights

Welcome to Ban Yeow Seafood Restaurant, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Kuala Dungun, Terengganu. Located conveniently at Lot 2784, Batu, 49, Jalan Paka, Taman Saeda, this restaurant is a testament to authentic Hakka cooking that has stood the test of time, boasting a legacy that spans over 60 years.

At Ban Yeow, you are welcomed by the warmth of a couple who have dedicated their lives to providing a simple yet vibrant dining experience. Their friendly demeanor immediately puts you at ease, as they expertly manage the establishment with a blend of passion and unwavering commitment. As echoed by satisfied diners like Nontharit Voravuth and Mark Chan, the personalized service makes every visit special, where their recommendations guide you through a menu that celebrates fresh seafood and traditional flavors.

The atmosphere is authentically old school, full of character that complements the culinary offerings. Menu highlights include their flagship tofu, succulent flounder, and large tiger prawns, all of which are prepared with care and attention to detail. While Balee Tong noted a minor adjustment that could enhance a dish, the consensus on taste is overwhelmingly positive. Each dish pairs beautifully with rice, enhancing the natural flavors and aromas.

It's important to note that this quaint eatery's charm lies in its simplicity; the only two operators, husband and wife, might take a little longer to serve your meal due to their small team size. However, as customers like Lee Shannel and W Edruce WS suggest, a little wait is worth the reward of consistently delicious dishes, served with heartfelt hospitality.

In a world filled with flashy dining trends, Ban Yeow Seafood Restaurant stands out as a bastion of genuine culinary heritage. If you're in the area, I wholeheartedly recommend paying a visit to savor the flavors of authentic Hakka seafood, made with love and served by those who deeply care about their craft. Whether you're a local or a traveler, Ban Yeow offers an experience that resonates beyond just a meal—it's a heartwarming journey back to a time when food was prepared with sincere passion.

An honest and down to earth business ran by a couple of friendly husband and wife. Despite being packed when we visit, the husband recommended and took our orders patiently. Food is good and with very affordable price. Highly recommended.

This place offers pork free Hakka cooking with an authentically old school ambience. Shops been around for 60 years. We ordered the flagship tofu, flounder, large tiger prawns and kangkung. Overall taste is great. Because we cheap, we asked the prawn to fillet in half. Unfortunately, the method of cooking didn't suit it as it dried the wonderfully large prawns. I believe steaming would have yielded better results. Overall, would recommend.

friendly boss offering good recommendations, ordered their special fish, topping of black beans and slice ginger over the fried fish, diced chicken with bitter gourd which was delicious and a stir fried lettuce, crisp and tasty, our ordering was done in Cantonese as he's a Pahang boy from Mentakab, his wife, the hakka lady's family hail from Raub, service was fast as there wasn't many diners, plenty of carparking in front, worth trying definitely,

Operate by a couple. Boss takes order, serves and collects payment. Lady boss is the chef. Very friendly couple. As there’s only two of them so it’ll take a longer time for the food to be served. If you’re willing to wait, do give it a try! Food served goes very well with rice! Will come again!

I came here twice for dinner, and ordered the same menu. The consistency is there, still delicious as my first visit. Expect a bit delay in getting your food as only a friendly husband & wife running the place.

Fish & fried chicken was super delicious! Priced well too! Hard to find Chinese food in this area, luckily we found thos restaurant. Recommended for those who need to have authentic Chinese food. However it's pork free~

Stayed at the resort nearby and wanted to have some fresh seafood but there were not many options in the neighbourhood and this place looked like a good choice. We came here for dinner and the restaurant was quite busy, most of the tables were taken. We saw an empty table and sat ourselves down as the owner was very busy. We noticed that most of the customers knew each others as they would greet each other, which is good sign as local people also come here to eat. The owner then came to take order when he was a little free. So there was no menu actually, we just told the owner what we wanted to eat, such as fish or prawn, and he recommended what to order. The waiting time for food to be served was a bit long as there was only one person cooking but the customers all looked very patient. When the food was finally served, we were happy to know that the food was not very salty like other local restaurants. We ordered the signature tofu dish but were underwhelmed. Squid dish was tender and fresh. The giant prawn was ok. Loved the steamed grouper, very fresh and delicate. With the price difference between giant prawn and steamed grouper, one giant prawn is more expensive than one steamed grouper, we would definitely go for the fish next time.
